Work with EmbarkDev, how we work, pricing, and FAQ

How we work

Four steps, start to ship.

The whole engagement, start to finish: a clear path from "let's talk" to "it's yours."

  1. 01

    Scope

A free 30-minute call, then a written proposal with a fixed scope and a fixed price. You know exactly what you're getting, and what it costs, before anything starts.

Free · ~1 week to proposal

  2. 02

    Build

Senior people on the actual work, no project managers in between. A working prototype lands in your hands by the end of week two, and you watch it take shape in shared docs and GitHub.

    Prototype by week two

  3. 03

    Ship

Staged releases into production, no big-bang launch, no quarter-long wait. We ship in weeks, and the thing goes live in pieces you can see and use as they're ready.

    Live in weeks, not quarters

  4. 04

    Own

Code, infrastructure, and accounts are yours from day one, handed over at launch with nothing held hostage. Thirty days of post-launch fixes are on us. No lock-in, no leverage.

Yours · 30 days of fixes included

Ways to work with us

Pick the model that fits.

We don't force one billing model on every engagement. Most work is a fixed-price project, but a retainer or hourly arrangement fits some better, and we'll recommend whichever suits yours.

Most common

Fixed-price project

A defined scope and one price, shipped in weeks. You know the full cost before anything starts, and the number on day one is the number at launch.

Best for defined work

Ongoing

Monthly retainer

Senior capacity on call: improvements, support, and a build partner you can draw on month to month, without hiring full-time.

Best for ongoing work

Open-ended

Hourly

For exploratory or hard-to-scope work, billed for the time it takes. When this is the fairer model, we'll tell you, instead of padding a fixed quote.

Best for the unknowns

  • It depends on scope. For project work we share a fixed quote after the scoping call, no 'starts at $X' games. For ongoing or open-ended work, we'll set up a retainer or hourly arrangement that fits. Most projects fall between $15k and $80k.

  • Scope changes happen. When they do, we flag the impact on price and timeline up front, before doing the work. No surprise invoices, no 'by the way' at the end of the project.

  • No. The first 30-minute call is always free. We only start charging once the scope doc is signed and we're building, discovery is on us.

  • Most projects ship within 4–8 weeks from kickoff. A working prototype lands in your hands by the end of week two. Specific dates go into the scope doc so everyone's aligned before we start.

  • Usually within a week or two of signing the scope doc. If you're in a crunch, we'll tell you honestly whether we can fit it in, we'd rather say no than ship something late.

  • We work in weeks, not quarters, by default. If you need something in days, we'll scope what's realistic, and what isn't. We don't promise timelines we can't hit.

  • We pick what fits the project, not what we're attached to. Common choices: Astro, Next.js, React, Cloudflare, Supabase, Postgres. For AI, we evaluate models for your specific use case.

  • Yes, that's most of what modernization projects are. We'll spend time reviewing your codebase before committing so the scope reflects reality, not optimism.

  • Whatever fits the job. Claude, GPT, and Gemini for general tasks. Open-source models (Llama, Mistral) when you need to self-host. We pick based on your use case, budget, and privacy requirements, not brand loyalty.

  • Yes. Send one over and we'll sign before the scoping call. We also have a standard mutual NDA ready if you need a template.

  • You do. Everything we build is yours, the code, the infrastructure, the assets. You get the GitHub repo and full access on day one, and we hand over everything at launch.

  • Yes, when it fits. Most of our work is project-based with a fixed scope and price, but we also do monthly retainers for ongoing support, iterations, or capacity you can draw on. We'll recommend whichever model suits the work.

  • Yes, most of our work is remote. We're based in Sarasota, but we work with clients across the country and around the world. Time zones rarely get in the way, and we're responsive during standard ET hours.

  • Thirty days of post-launch fixes are included on every project, any bugs or small tweaks, on us. After that, ongoing support is available but not required.

  • Email us and we'll take a look. Small fixes within a few months of launch are usually quick to handle. If it's a bigger issue, we'll scope the work fairly and honestly.
